What to do in the City of Champions?

Edmonton is a Winter City

Our conference is being held right in the middle of one of our favorite winter festivals “Ice on Whyte”. As one of Canada’s most active winter cities we have a network of walking trails, downhill and cross country ski areas, a beautiful winding river valley for tobogganing, skating and hiking.  As well Elk Island National Park and Strathcona Recreation Center are perfect for wild life viewing. Edmonton is a day trip to the Rocky Mountains (3 hours west to Jasper National Park and 5 hours south to Banff).

Shopping

The world’s largest mall “West Edmonton Mall” is a 20 minute drive from downtown or a single bus ride. Other shopping areas are a quick above and below ground LRT system to the City Center or Southgate shopping malls.

Sport and Cultural Events

We are building a new arena but the old one is just fine for watching an NHL Edmonton Oilers or WHL Oil Kings ice hockey game.

Edmonton is proud of its significance in Canada’s history and is home to many people of varying nationalities and cultures. As well Edmonton has an active music, art and theatre council hosting events throughout the year.

This blog provides more information about things to do in Edmonton in the winter.
